Jim Rohn's Ant philosophy

Have you ever heard Jim Rohn's Ant philosophy?
Jim Rohn thinks everybody should study ants because they have a simple yet powerful life philosophy. It has four parts;
  1. Ants never quit.
  2. Ants think "winter" all summer.
  3. Ants think "summer" all winter.
  4. Ants gather "all that they can" during summer.
Let me explain the steps in detail.
Ants never quit. If an ant is heading somewhere they will get there. If you try to put obsticles in their way they stop, look, and think for half a second, after which they have found a way to either go over, under, or around the obstacle. Whatever the obstacle they will try to find another way past, and they will keep looking until they have found it. So you should also never quit looking for a way to get where your are supposed to go.
Ants think "winter" all summer. Summer will not last forever. Ant spend their summers gathering food for the winter and building their house that will keep them safe during the cold winter. So must you prepare for hard times. Look at all the companies that have gone under in the financial crisis. Had they thought "winter" during the good times, they would have had capital that would have kept them safe from the financial "winter". Don't forget the winter.
Ants think "summer" all winter. Winter will not last forever. Ants keeps telling themselves "This hard time will not last forever". When summer comes they will be out as soon as they can. They can't wait to get out. You will have hard times when you are low on energy and everything seems to go against you. Then it is important to realize that there will be better days ahead. Think positively! Make that winter go away!
Ants gather food during the summer to prepare for the winter. And they are gathering all that they possibly can. They do their best. The best they possibly can achieve. When you do your best it is always good enough! Always strive to do your best and you will NOT fail in life!
Kt, to summarize this we can conclude "Never give up, look ahead, stay positive and do all you can." I live by this, so should you!

Looking For Retirement Income

Most people think of retirement as a way to finally get away from work. Put up their feet and do what they have always wanted to do. Go travelling, see exotic places Some of them, though, find that they don’t have the required savings to do what they wanted, or have the money, but are bored with doing nothing, so find something else they really want to do.
The fact is, you can make surprisingly large retirement income. Retiring can be a great beginning for a new life that you'll actually enjoy. You can set up your own home business on the internet, and you'll be able to work wherever or whenever you like, on your own terms and to your own schedule.
An entrepreneur who runs a home based business, though, will find it different from working a 9 to 5 job. A lot of people are retiring and starting up their own businesses, along with all of those baby boomers, who are thinking about starting up when they retire.
You can build retirement income for yourself and have something to leave for your children and grandchildren with a home based business. You shouldn't expect to become rich overnight, though, because that's not realistic. Having an Internet business should be seen as a way to supplement the pension that you will be paid after retirement. You might end up wealthy from working at a home based business, but most individuals don't see that kind of return.
They do, however, see their retirement income supplemented with their home based internet business and they enjoy their work as an entrepreneur. Making money online is one thing that is important to the baby boomers, because they want to make more, but they don't want to have to work for someone else. To supplement your income in retirement, you can do it easily and in a more enjoyable way as an entrepreneur of a home based business, and still have time to enjoy life – that's why you retired in the first place.

EVERY FAILURE IS A STEP CLOSER TO SUCCESS

EVERY FAILURE IS A STEP CLOSER TO SUCCESS

People who try to do something and fail are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed.

Experiencing failure is inevitable on your journey to be successful.
Every defeat is merely an installment to victory.

You'll find that the number of times you succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times you fail and keep trying.

You won't be judged by the number of times you fail - but by the number of times you succeed.

Failure is nothing but education - nothing but the first step to something better.

You can't be a winner and be afraid to lose.

The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale

An excerpt from The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale

George Bernard Shaw said, "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them."
Well, it's pretty apparent, isn't it? And every person who discovered this believed (for a while) that he was the first one to work it out. We become what we think about.
Conversely, the person who has no goal, who doesn't know where he's going, and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion, anxiety and worry - his life becomes one of frustration, fear, anxiety and worry. And if he thinks about nothing... he becomes nothing.
How does it work? Why do we become what we think about? Well, I'll tell you how it works, as far as we know. To do this, I want to tell you about a situation that parallels the human mind.
Suppose a farmer has some land, and it's good, fertile land. The land gives the farmer a choice; he may plant in that land whatever he chooses. The land doesn't care. It's up to the farmer to make the decision.
We're comparing the human mind with the land because the mind, like the land, doesn't care what you plant in it. It will return what you plant, but it doesn't care what you plant.
Now, let's say that the farmer has two seeds in his hand- one is a seed of corn, the other is nightshade, a deadly poison. He digs two little holes in the earth and he plants both seeds-one corn, the other nightshade. He covers up the holes, waters and takes care of the land...and what will happen? Invariably, the land will return what was planted.
As it's written in the Bible, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."
Remember the land doesn't care. It will return poison in just as wonderful abundance as it will corn. So up come the two plants - one corn, one poison.
The human mind is far more fertile, far more incredible and mysterious than the land, but it works the same way. It doesn't care what we plant...success...or failure. A concrete, worthwhile goal...or confusion, misunderstanding, fear, anxiety and so on. But what we plant it must return to us.
You see, the human mind is the last great unexplored continent on earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant.

HUNG BY THE TONGUE

Some people just have a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. They are being, "Hung By the Tongue!"

A state trooper pulled a man over for speeding on a deserted road. Since the road was clear and the weather fine, the trooper had indicated that he may not give the man a ticket, and let them off with a warning. He even complemented both the man and his wife for wearing their seat belts. At that point the woman leaned over and said, "Well, officer, when you drive the speeds we do, you have to wear them." That's when the trooper wrote the ticket. Hung By the Tongue!

Gene and Carolyn were entertaining for the first time since the birth of their baby. Everything ran smoothly until one of Gene's buddies arrived with his new girlfriend - a woman whom Carolyn did not particularly care for. She beckoned her husband upstairs with the excuse that they had to check on the baby. In the privacy of the nursery, she spoke freely of her disdain for the new guest. When they went downstairs to rejoin the party, they were greeted with an awkward silence-except for the occasional murmuring of the sleeping baby that came from the infant monitor sitting on the table. Hung By the Tongue!

There is an ancient Japanese proverb that says... "A tongue three inches long can kill a man six feet tall."

If you are continually being "hung by your tongue", you can be "loosed from the noose" if you would just learn to engage your mind a little bit before you speak! Here's the process... think... then speak! I believe that we need to make our words sweet... just in case we have to eat them!

The words of your mouth are a creative force. They play a big part in predestining your future. Your words are the architects of your life. The tongue is like a tool. We need to use our tools of the present to build our future we desire.

Baby Boomers still Face Uncertainty!

If you were born in that era after the Second World War, between 1946 and about 1964 then you are a Baby Boomer.
Approximately 78.2 million Americans were born between 1946 and 1964, according to the US Census Bureau.By 2030, all baby boomers will be 65 or older.
Most boomers have, until recently, expected that, like their parents that they could retire at age 65, collect the old age pension to take them through their golden years. Now they find that governments are looking toward a later retirement age.
In Australia anyone turning 65 is seriously encouraged to postpone retirement until they reach 70, at which time they will receive a “bonus” of around $A 30,000 as a “reward” for paying taxation and not receiving a pension for an additional 5 years on their working life. ( this incentive was subsequently cancelled after a change in Government. Now they are pressing to increase the retirement age without incentive)
The hard truth is that up to 49 per cent of baby boomers believe their main source of income after retirement will be superannuation.

Statistics show that the average superannuation on retirement for baby boomers will likely be $65,000 or less.
The numbers show an emerging gap between the amount people have saved for retirement, and what they will need. This before taking into account the unsettled state of the stock market in recent years which will compound the problem.
A 65-year-old retiring last month with let’s say $100,000 superannuation, would have an annuity that would pay about $600 to $700 a month for the balance of that person’s life, based on current interest rates. Many of them are turning to the internet and trying to negotiate the minefield of businesses on offer there, and run the risk of losing what little investment they have available.. My advice to them is to choose wisely.
They should avoid  any  so called opportunity that promises unrealistic high returns for little or no effort.   I suggest they do what I have done – select a “top tier” business that offers high commissions, comprehensive training and personal coaching.
Getting started is so much easier when you have a mentor to show you how!
Some investment should be expected, as the saying goes “you need to speculate to accumulate” and finally it is important to stick with it.
Most new marketers quit within 90 days. They give up too quickly before they see any results.

Authors note; Although I wrote this article some time ago, the facts haven't changed - baby boomers still face the same uncertainties. I have updated this material to keep it current.

Give yourself permission by George Kyros

You will become what your thoughts tell you to be, so if you want to become something else you first need to change your thoughts.
It is amazing that negative thoughts often come to mind much more frequently than do positive ones. It is easy to remember that one time you failed, or said or did something foolish in public, but you never seem to remember the time you were successful against all odds – unless you consciously force yourself to think of it. Why is this? Why can we immediately bring to mind all of our failings yet struggle to remember our successes? I think it is because those negative events are memories you wish you didn’t have. It is as though your mind is trying to send you a warning not to repeat your actions.
The problem is that along with the warning comes negative reinforcement, your mind seems to be saying, ‘see, this is all you are capable of, this is what you are worth’. A person I used to work with was the most positive person I ever knew. He was fond of saying, ‘If you got lemons, make lemonade’; he saw a positive in every negative.
What we should be doing, is that when this thought about some perceived great failure just pops into your mind, acknowledge the warning and then consciously dwell on your great successes. Remind yourself that the successes far outweigh the failures, and one more thing- remember the words of that great genius Albert Einstein who said ‘The person who never failed never made anything worthwhile’ or Thomas Edison who had thousands of attempts to make a light globe that worked, He didn’t have thousands of failures, he just discovered thousands of ways it wouldn’t work!
If we keep doing the same thing, we will keep getting the same result. If you want a different outcome then change the way you do it. Change the way you think and give yourself permission to succeed.
